Back on Track!  The children and their babies have all gone home and now I'm back to the 30 Things List!

Day 12 - Describe a Typical Day in Your Life.

As a midwife, there is no such thing as a "typical" day.  That's the beauty of this call - every day has the possibility of amazing things!

That being said, I will tell you there are a few things in my typical day I do not wish to miss - 2 cups of coffee in the morning, talking to at least one of my children or lately my grandson.  Oliver has been calling me on the phone for several months now.  He calls and asks things like, "Gigi, you hear me???"  Reminds me that he is at his new house in New York and other seemingly unimportant things.  To me, these are the best moments of my day.  Just a couple of weeks ago he FaceTimed me.  This is something we do just about every night.  This time, I assumed, was as any other time.  Once the call was connected, he got so excited!  "Daddy!  Mommy!  Gigi is on the computer!!!!"  So happy that he did this himself.

So, to you it may appear my life is a bit boring - 2 cups of coffee and sitting around waiting for spontaneous phone calls and video chats from small children.  I wouldn't have it any other way.

Today the sky was blue, and so was I. Sharon Schmidt Twenty two weeks and one day. Chris, Sue, Morgan and I got up early to get breakfast and get to the hospital. Brooke slept well last night, thanks to Dr. "Ambien". Connie, the sonographer, came in to take Brooke to get the ultrasound. As expected, Emerson's heart wasn't beating. As I was reminded today, her spirit and a good friends' recent loss, are playing together on the other side. Coeur d'Lane and Lennon are doing well. They were so busy in there, moving, sucking on their hands - so sweet. Their heart rates are in a good range and their fluid levels remain in a good range. The average delivery occurs about 10 weeks after this procedure. We want Coeur d'Lane and Lennon to get big and stay in as long as possible! We won't have to worry about Emerson now. We focus our attention on the future. Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength. Corrie Ten Boom

It's 4:15 AM and we just got back from the hospital. Zoe is snuggled up between Ray and I. Ray is already sleeping, loudly :-) I have to post a couple of pics of the girls before I go to sleep. For you birth junkies and detail-loving folks, I will post the birth story later today. Meanwhile, enjoy these pics (CdL on Left and Lennon on Right)! Goodnight! Gigi

Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known . – Carl Sagan Yesterday afternoon Brooke went to Cincinnati to get an ultrasound and echo for the babies. They were ready to do the surgery to separate Emerson & Lenn on as soon as today, if necessary, but Dr. Crombleholme thinks Emerson is stable enough to wait until Monday. Just when you think it's over, it's not. Dr. Crombleholme reminded us not to assume this is "it" fo r Emerson. It's possible that the surgery will help her. He wants to give Emerson a chance to live. He wants to give her the benefit of the doubt. I don't think it's a coincidence that this is Easter weekend. Praying. Love recognizes no barriers.
